Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over New Jersey City University today in NJAC action. The Roadrunners improve to 1-1-1 overall while the Gothic Knights now stand at 0-3 overall.
Ramapo scored their first goal in the first half (36:53) off a corner kick when
Sam Ingannamorte sent a ball into the box and
Kaitlyn Kelly put a header into the back of the box for the 1-0 lead. Ramapo held a 6-0 lead in shots in the first half.
The Gothic Knights were awarded a penalty kick in the second half. Kim Brites converted to tie the game 1-1 in the 67th minute (66:30).
Lauren Vladyka scored the eventual game-winner for Ramapo with a low shot into the back of the net off a pass from
Amanda Gouldsbury. The goal put the Roadrunners up 2-1 in the 77th minute (76:08). The Ramapo defense would keep the Gothic Knights off the board the remainder of the game to earn their first win of the season.
Ramapo held an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal along with two corners to NJCU's one.
Emma Conlan did not record a save in the game while Gothic Knight goalies Cidney Lee-Sam and Marissa Lotierzo split time in the net. Lee-Sam recorded two saves while Lotierzo collected three saves of her own.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 27th when they host Montclair State University at 1pm. Ramapo will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony. Please be advised of our
