Wayne, NJ: The William Paterson University field hockey team won the NJAC season opener tonight over Ramapo College 1-0 in overtime.
WPU (1-0) tallied the game winning goal 3:41 into the OT period when Megan Hoopes scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Hope Addlesberger.
The two teams battled it out in regulation before the game went into OT. Ramapo (0-1) and WPU both recorded six shots in regulation before the Pioneers game-winner in OT.
Samantha Stolker tallied one save for the Roadrunners while Emily Hoagland needed to make four stops for WPU.
Maggie Farrell recorded three shots, all on goal while Lucy Mackenzie also tallied two shots, one on goal for the Roadrunners.
