Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team competed against NJAC rival Montclair State University today in the Roadrunners first virtual meet of the 2021 season. The Red Hawks (2-0 overall) posted a 144-97 win.
Devin Alejado won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.18 seconds while
Steven Somick placed third with a time of 1:00.38.
Jace Cortez-Fields,
Noah Callahan and Jeff Horn finished 2-3-4 respectively in the 500-yard freestyle. Cortez-Fields clocked in at 5:16.47, Callahan finished in 5:22.31 and Horn clocked in at 5:23.61. Samuel Cossaboon placed third overall in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.22) while
Spencer Hughes (1:55.82) placed fourth.
In the 50-yard backstroke, Alejado took home a second-place finish when he posted a time of 26.51 seconds. Brendan McDevitt placed third overall (26.95 seconds) while Somick finished in fourth place in 27.13 seconds.
Emile Eeckhout (28.04 seconds) and
Sean Flannery (28.72 seconds) went 2-3 in the 50-yard breaststroke.
David Herrera placed second overall (24.99 seconds) in the 50-yard butterfly while
Giovanni Alvarez placed third overall (25.69 seconds).
Josh Templeton (23.54 seconds), Cossaboon (23.64 seconds) and Hughes (24.61 seconds) went 3-4-5 respectively in the 50-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard freestyle, Templeton placed third overall in 52.63 seconds while Eeckhout (1:01.47) and Flannery (1:02.84) placed second and fourth respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Alvarez (57.15 seconds), Herrera (57.38 seconds) and Cortez-Fields (59.00 seconds) placed 2-3-4 overall. The 200-yard freestyle relay team placed second overall with a time of 1:33.90. Templeton, Cossaboon, Hughs and Flannery competed in the event. In the 100-yard IM, Callahan (57.53 seconds), Eeckhout (59.14 seconds) and Alejado (59.23 seconds) finished 2-3-4 respectively.
The Roadrunners return to action next Saturday February, 27th when they compete against William Paterson University in a virtual meet at 12pm.
