Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team defeated York College (NY) 86-46 tonight in non-conference action at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners move to 5-2 overall while the Cardinals now stand at 1-2 on the year.
The Roadrunners led the entire game leading to their fifth win of the season. The team forced 25 York turnovers which led to 31 points for Ramapo while they scored 42 points in the paint. Ramapo's non-starters tallied 36 points in tonight's game. The Roadrunners shot 50% (34-68) from the field, 41% (7-17) from beyond the three-point line and 84% (11-13) from the free throw line. Three players scored in double figures as they were led by
Alie Wickersheim who tallied a double double of 18 points and ten rebounds.
Jada Thompson, who recently earned NJAC Rookie of the Week, added 14 points and
Lyndsey Ross added ten points including two made three-pointers.
Bridget Cahill added nine points while
Jackie Ventricelli and
Alison Ahern each contributed with eight points in the game.
York was led by Alicia Gumbs who posted a team high 19 points and six rebounds. Ellma Hodzic added 13 points while Mac-Dege Dessources contributed with six points and five rebounds. The Cardinals shot 31% (16-51) from the field, 16 (3-18) from the three-point line and 64% (11-17) from the free throw line in the game. York scored 20 points in the paint along with nine point off Ramapo turnovers.
Ramapo returns to action when they host Rutgers-Newark University on Wednesday, December 8th in a NJAC game at 5:30pm.
