Mahwah, NJ: Stockton University women's basketball came back to defeat Ramapo College 75-71 in NJAC action today at the Bradley Center. The Ospreys move to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The Roadrunners led for the majority of the game before Stockton made a big comeback in the fourth quarter as they scored 27 points. Madison LaRosa led the Ospreys with 28 points including finishing 7-9 from the field, 5-7 from the three-point line and 9-11 from the free throw line. Grace Sacco posted 15 points and a team high nine rebounds and six assists while Jaiden Harris tallied ten points and nine rebounds. Stockton finished shooting 43% (25-58) from the floor, 46% (6-13) from the three-point line and 61% (19-31) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners were led by
Jada Thompson who recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 points and ten rebounds.
Olivia Johnstone also tallied 17 points and she finished 7-9 from the field and perfect from the three-point line (3-3).
Shannon Burns tallied 12 points and eight rebounds while
Bridget Cahill and
Alie Wickersheim each collected seven points. Ramapo shot 41% (23-56) from the field, 33% (6-18) from the three-point line and 67% (19-28) from the free throw line.
Ramapo led for the entire first quarter with their biggest lead coming with 2:51 on the clock. Thompson converted a layup to put the Roadrunners up, 19-9. Stockton then shrunk the lead by finishing the quarter on a mini 4-1 run which saw Ramapo up 20-13. In the second quarter the Roadrunners would once again stretch their lead. Johnston nailed a three-pointer with 5:04 on the clock to put Ramapo up 33-19. The Ospreys went on an 11-0 run which included three three-pointers from LaRosa, which shrunk the Ramapo lead to just three, 33-30. Thompson made a free throw before Stockton scored the final basket of the quarter as Ramapo went into the locker room up two, 34-32.
Stockton came out and scored the first basket of the third quarter before Cahill sank a three-pointer for Ramapo, 37-34. A 7-0 run put Stockton in the lead, 41-37, before Johnstone made another three-pointer for the Roadrunners with 5:30 left in the quarter. That started a 10- run which put Ramapo up 47-41 with less than three minutes on the clock before they closed out the quarter up ten, 58-48, on a three-pointer from Lindsey Ross.
An 11-2 run from Stockton to open the fourth quarter shrunk the Ramapo lead to just one with less than six minutes left in the game. The two teams traded baskets before Ramapo led by five, 65-60 with four minutes on the clock on a jumper from Thompson. LaRosa gave Stockton the lead with a 6-0 run of her own, as she sank a three-pointer and two two-point baskets for a 67-65 lead with 2:08 on the clock. Johnstone tied the game for the fourth time with a jumper before LaRosa sank a pair of free throws to regain the lead for the final time. Ramapo battled back as Stockton converted their free throws down the stretch for the NJAC road game victory.

th when they host York College (NY) at 5:30pm.
