Mahwah, NJ: The Stockton University men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College 69-66 to remain undefeated in NJAC conference action today at the Bradley Center. The Ospreys move to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC.
Stockton had three players score in double figures in the game as they were led by DJ Campbell with 18 points and six rebounds. Luciano Lubrano tallied 17 points and six rebounds while Kyion Flanders recorded 13 points. The Osprey's converted nine made three-pointers in the game while they shot 84% (22-26) from the free throw line in the game. The team shot 34% (19-55) from the field and 29% (9-31) from the three-point line.
The Roadrunners shot almost fifty percent from the floor in the game as they finished 25-53 (47%). Four Roadrunners scored in double figures as they were led by
Peter Gorman who tallied 16 points while
Jordan Myers and
Shane Rooney each collected 12 in the game.
Mansfield Warren posted 11 points while
Marquise Kindel grabbed a team high nine rebounds and added seven points. The team also shot 41% (5-12) from the three-point line and 64% (11-17) from the free throw line.
Ramapo's biggest lead came in the first half with 3:37 on the clock as they saw themselves up twelve, 32-20. Stockton then went on a 9-0 run to close out the half as the Roadrunners took a 32-29 lead into the locker room. In the first five minutes of the second half the game was tied five times before Stockton took a 43-42 lead when Jonathan Azoroh made one free throw. Campbell connected on a pair of free throws before
Peter Gorman sank a three-pointer to tie the game for the sixth time of the game, 45-45. The two teams battled over the next eight minutes before Stockton took the lead on a pair of free throws from Flanders with under four minutes to play. Flanders would make a three-pointer with 3:25 on the clock to take a 63-59 lead before a Ramapo free throw and a layup from Myers brought the Roadrunners within one, 62-63 with 2:51 left to play. Stockton and Ramapo would trade baskets down the stretch before Kadian Dawkins made a jumper with 22 seconds left. Myers then converted one for the Roadrunners with seven seconds on the clock as Stockton led by one, 67-66. Campbell scored the final points of the game, a pair of free throws for the 69-66 road win.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, December 8th when they host Rutgers-Newark University in a NJAC game at 7:30pm.
