Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College 94-76 today at Panzer Athletic Center. The Red Hawks move to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Red Hawks used an offensive attack that included 16 made three-pointers along with shooting 78% (18-23) from the three-point line. Keyon Pryce and Irving Callender each scored 23 points for MSU while Pryce tallied six made three-pointers. Steven Breeman posted 17 points and a team high eight rebounds while Devin Cooper finished perfect from the field with 11 total points.
MSU led early in the first half before stretching their lead to ten with 7:28 on the clock, 35-25. Ramapo then went on a 15-3 run capped off with a three-pointer from
Mark Howell that put Ramapo up 41-38 with 3:20 on the clock. Each team recorded a pair of made free throws before
Peter Gorman put Ramapo up 45-40 with 2:22 left to play in the half. MSU closed out the half on a 12-3 run which put them back in the lead 52-48 heading into the locker room.

Marquise Kindel jumper to start the half for Ramapo put them within two, 50-52, before MSU stretched their lead to 13, 65-52, with a 15-0 run. Ramapo then went on a mini 6-0 run of their own to cut the lead to seven with 14:48 on the clock. MSU led 73-60 with 12:15 to play before Ramapo went on another 9-3 run to shrink the MSU lead to seven with 8:24 on the clock. A pair of free throws from MSU and a jumper from Howell saw Ramapo down 71-78 with 7:27 on the clock before MSU's Steven Breeman sank a three-pointer for a ten point lead, 81-71. Down the stretch MSU held a double digit lead, their biggest coming with 1:09 on the clock as Devin Cooper scored the final points of the game for either team, a three-pointer, 94-76.
Ramapo had four Roadrunners score in double figures in the game as they were led by Howell who tallied 20 points including 4-4 from the three-point line. Kindel added a double double of 12 points and a team high 11 rebounds.
Jordan Myers posted 13 points while Gorman added 12 points. Ramapo shot 55% from the field (30-54), 75% (6-8) from the three-point line and 58% (10-17) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, December 4th when they host Stockton University in a NJAC game at 1pm.
