MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS SARAH LAWRENCE 80-60

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team opened the 2021-2022 season with an 80-60 non-conference victory over Sarah Lawrence College tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners move to 1-0 overall while the Gryphons move to 0-3 overall.
 
Four Roadrunner starters scored in double figures as they were led by Jordan Myers who recorded 19 points and eight rebounds. Shane Rooney had a big game with a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds including three huge blocks. Mansfield Warren collected 13 points while Marquise Kindel tallied 12. Peter Gorman dished out a team high five assists and four steals while he contributed with seven points. Bryan Joseph tallied eight points and five rebounds while he finished 4-4 from the free throw line in just 11 minutes of action. The Roadrunners shot 50% (31-61) from the field in the game while they were 16% (1-6) from the three-point line and 73% (17-23) from the free throw line. Ramapo pulled down 44 rebounds in the game to the Gryphons' 28.
 
Sarah Lawrence was led by Jelani Jackson who finished with 19 points including 5-8 from beyond the three-point line while Lucas Murry collected 11 points of his own. Justin Bailey led the team with five rebounds while he tallied two steals and one assist. The team shot 35% (20-56) in the game while they shot 33% (9-27) from the three-point line and 61% (11-18) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners took a 40-32 lead into the locker room at halftime and held Sarah Lawrence to just 28 points in the second half. The Ramapo defense also forced 24 Gryphon turnovers that led to 23 points for the Roadrunners.
 
Ramapo returns to action Wednesday, November 17th when they host the City College of New York in a non-conference game at 7pm at the Bradley Center.
