Chris Andersen of the Ramapo College men's cross country team won the 2021 NJAC Men's Cross Country individual title this afternoon. The Roadrunners placed second overall in a tight race with 40 points in the 8k meet.
Andersen became the third Roadrunner to win a NJAC individual title and fourth overall when he crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 24:57.3. Along with women's teammate Jane Wagner who also won NJAC Title this afternoon, this is the first time in program history the team swept the individual men's and women's titles.
Steven Fiumefreddo finished right behind Andersen for second place overall in 25:05.7, also a personal best time.
Mohamed Nidaazzi posted a personal best time in at 25:44.4 for a third place for the team and fourth place overall in his first NJAC Championship meet of his career.
Ian McCauley placed 12th overall and fourth for Ramapo when he clocked in at 26:16.7, also a new personal best.
Jason Mercado finished fifth for the team and 21st overall with a time of 26:48.
The NJAC announced the All-Conference team at the Championship Meet. Andersen earned NJAC Men's Runner of the Year and NJAC First Team All-Conference, his third NJAC All-Conference honor of his career. Nidaazzi earned NJAC Rookie of the Year and NJAC First Team All-Conference. Fiumefreddo earned NJAC First Team All-Conference, his second all-conference honor of his career. McCauley earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference, his first of his career.
Ramapo returns to action at the NCAA Metro Regional Championships hosted by Rowan University on Saturday, November 13th at Dream Park in Logan Twp., NJ. The meet begins at 11am.
