Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated Misericordia University today at the Athletic Center, 5-2. With the victory the Roadrunners move to 12-6 overall and set a new program best mark for wins in a season. The Cougars move to 12-6 overall in the loss.
The Roadrunners, who are ranked #6 in the latest NCAA Region IV rankings, were awarded a penalty stroke in the first two minutes of the game.
Victoria Docherty stepped up and tallied her team leading 21st goal of the season to put Ramapo on the board 1-0. Just before the first quarter was over,
Talitha Joustra posted her ninth goal of the season off an assist from
Maggie Farrell and Docherty for the 2-0 lead.
Allie Bianco put the Cougars on the board in the second quarter of a pass from Morgan Walsh to cut the Roadrunner lead in half. In the third quarter,
Mariah Tovar collected her sixth goal of the year off a pass from
Angela Oskierko before Docherty tallied her second goal of the game as M. Farrell earned the assist for the 4-1 score. The Cougars were awarded a penalty stroke in the 47th minute during the fourth quarter while Madison Posivak converted to give the team their second goal of the game. M. Farrell put Ramapo up 5-2 with just four minutes left in the game with a goal off a pass from Docherty, her seventh goal of the year.
Michelle Kukan posted ten saves for the Roadrunners in the game while Olivia Gretz tallied nine saves for the Cougars. Ramapo recorded 18 shots in the game including 15 on goal while Misericordia tallied 16 in the game and 13 on goal. The Cougars held a slight edge in penalty corners 16-14.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, November 3rd in the first round of the NJAC Tournament. The Roadrunners earned the #4 seed and will travel to #1 Rowan for a 7pm game. The official bracket will be announced later tonight following the conclusion of the regular season on www.njacsports.com.
