Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer earned a 2-1 road win over New Jersey City University today in NJAC action. The Roadrunners improve to 8-7-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights now stand at 8-8-1 overall, 0-8 in the conference.
Maximo Vargas scored his eighth goal of the season in the second half off a pass from Jeremy Jordan in the 58th minute (57:41) to put NJCU up 1-0.
Ederson La Torre tied the game for Ramapo in the 81st minute (80:58), his second goal of the season.
Thiago Stallhbaum pushed a header to La Torre who ripped a shot to knot the score 1-1. The game-winner came from
Louis Petrozziello in the 86th minute (85:13). Following a corner kick by Ramapo, the NJCU defense could not clear the ball as it fell at the feet of Petrozziello and he sent the ball into the back of the net for the 2-1 lead.
Ramapo held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks in the game while they posted 21 shots including eight on goal for the game. NJCU recorded 22 shots in the game and ten on goal. Ramapo net-minder
Joshua Schaffer posted nine saves in the NJAC road win while Aldahir Cazun tallied six for NJCU.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 27th when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC game at 7:30pm.
