New York, NY: The Hunter College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-18) non-conference victory tonight at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks improve to 8-7 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-12 on the year.
Mariapaz Lojano led Hunter with ten kills while Alexa Sayson and Mariam Ouattara each posted seven kills in the match. Justine Smith collected three aces while Ouattara led the way with four blocks. Smith dished out a team high 27 assists and Sayson and Erin Hyman posted 12 digs on defense. The Hawks hit .400 in the match with 39 kills on 85 attempts and just five errors.
Caleigh Golabek led the Roadrunners with eight kills while Amanda Fatough and
Grace Kim posted five and three kills respectively. Golabek also recorded a team high four aces while
Alexandra Sacchinelli dished out a team high 12 assists.
Hannah McTighe collected six assists of her own while Kim and
Stephanie Ross led the team on defense with seven digs each. Sacchinelli posted six digs in the match while team collected 24 total kills in the match.
The Roadrunners return to the Bradley Center on Thursday, October 14th when they host Rutgers-Newark for a NJAC match at 7pm. The team will honor their senior class in a pre-match ceremony.
