Purchase, NY: The Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team posted an 18-15 non-conference win over Ramapo College this afternoon. The Valiants improve to 2-0 overall while the Roadrunners open the 2020 season at 0-1.
Ramapo opened the scoring with a free position goal from
Shannon Eagan before a goal from Lara Keenan tied the game 1-1. Back-to-back goals from
Taylor Peracchio and
Danielle Dellapi put Ramapo up 3-1 with 20 minutes left in the half. Two goals from Manhattanville tied the game 3-3 just over a minute later before
Colleen Mason took a pass from Dellapi as Ramapo held a 4-3 lead. Mason and Eagan each scored goals for Ramapo while Melissa O'Mara put two in the net for the Valiants to as the score was tied 5-5 with less than 12 minutes left in the first half. Keenan and Marisa D'Angelo scored back-to-back goals for Manhattanville for a 7-5 lead before
Taylor Peracchio scored on a free position shot for the Roadrunner to come within one 6-7. Brialee Logue hit the back of the net twice for a 9-6 lead before Ramapo scored the final two goal of the half.
Nicole Jaskot recorded a free position goal while Mason brought Ramapo within one 8-9 to close out the half with an unassisted goal. Manhattanville held a 22-20 advantage in shots in the first half.
Ramapo would come back early in the second half to take the lead. Dellapi scored first in the second half for either team off a pass from Peracchio to tie the game 9-9 before Mason tallied back-to-back goals for the Roadrunners for an 11-9 lead with less than 25 minutes left on the clock. Marisa D'Angelo and Eagan traded goals as Ramapo led 12-10 before Logue put on into the back of the net for Manhattanville to come within one 11-12. Eagan and Peracchio each recorded a goal off a free position shot to extend the Ramapo lead 14-11 with just over 11 minutes left to play. The Valiants then scored six unanswered goals to take a. 17-14 lead with 4:14 left on the clock. Eagan scored her team leading fifth goal of the game with 3:33 on the clock before Ally Petricca scored the final goal for either team as Manhattanville posted an 18-15 win.
Eagan led the team with five goals while Mason posted four goals in the game for Ramapo. Peracchio tallied three goals and a team high three assists while Dellapi recorded two goals, one assist and Jaskot posted one goal and one assist. In goal,
Alexandra Kerwin collected 14 saves in the net for the Roadrunners.
Keenan and Logue each posted five goals to lead Manhattanville while Hailey Destasio recorded a team high seven assists in the game. Bella Marchiselli tallied 12 saves in goal for the Valiants. Manhattanville held a 42-39 advantage in shots in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 29th when they host Keystone College in a non-conference game at the Athletic Center turf field at 1pm.
