RAMAPO DROPS NJAC MATCH-UP AT HOME

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo women's basketball team dropped an NJAC match-up to the Rutgers Camden Scarlet Raptors, 55-64. The Roadrunners fell to an overall record of 9-14, 3-13 in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raptors improve to a 12-11 overall record, 5-11 in the NJAC.

The Roadrunners were led by Samantha Rinaldi tonight who totaled 17 total points, and on the defensive end, were led by Jenna Harsh with eight rebounds. Ramapo shot 34.% (21-61) from the field in the loss.
 
In the first period of the game, both teams traded a few baskets, until Ramapo took off with an 8-0 run, starting with a jumper from Abbegail Whildin and ending with a jumper from Jessica Repasy to push ahead 12-7. The Roadrunners continued to spread their lead with back-to-back three-point goals from Rinaldi, increasing the gap to 18-12. The Scarlet Raptors fought back with a pair of three-point goals from their own, Shane Holmes and Taylor Martin. Rutgers Camden put up a good fight, but heading into the locker room the Roadrunners led, 29-28. The Roadrunners were led by Rinaldi who racked up 12 points, and Harsh who tallied five rebounds. Overall, Ramapo shot 37.9% (11-29) from the field. The Scarlet Raptors were led by Holmes who tallied 11 points and the team also shot 37.9% (11-29) from the field.
 
In the second half, the Scarlet Raptors were able to pull away from the Roadrunners with a 15-4 run, that included four three-point goals, two from Fatimah Williams. Rinaldi drove a layup to the rim to start the fourth period, trying to lessen the nine-point gap.  Rutgers Camden was relentless, going on another run to widen the gap, 62-44, led by Williams. Cherie Smedile sunk a three-point goal and a layup to decrease the gap, but the fate of the Roadrunner's was sealed at the end of the quarter, 55-64.

The Scarlet Raptors were led by two players who scored in double-digits, Williams with 24 points and Holmes with 17 points. Rutgers Camden shot 41.1% (23-56) from the field.
 
The Roadrunners are back to action this Saturday, February 15th when they face the William Paterson Pioneers at 1pm in the Bill Bradley Center. The senior members of the team will be honored prior to the start of the game.
