RAMAPO FALLS TO MSU ON THE ROAD IN NJAC ACTION

Montclair, NJ:  The Montclair State University women's basketball team posted a 66-47 NJAC victory over Ramapo College tonight at Panzer Athletic Center. The Red Hawks win their 10th straight game and move to 15-4 overall and 10-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-10 overall and 3-9 in the NJAC.
 
The Red Hawk defense held the Roadrunners to six points heading into the locker room as MSU led 28-6 while Ramapo would outscore MSU in the final two quarters. Ramapo would go on a 13-6 run during the third quarter started by a pair of free throws from Alie Wickersheim while Bridget Cahill sank a three-pointer (19-38) with less than four minutes remaining. Ramapo was on 5-6 shooting from the field during the run as Wickersheim led the team with six of the 13 points. In the final minute of the third quarter, Jessica Repasy and Kaity Potter scored back-to-back baskets for the Roadrunners while Rylee Mulligan tallied a jumper for MSU as the Red Hawks maintained 46-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Jenna Harsh started the scoring for the Roadrunners in the final quarter with an and-one play, making a layup and free throw 28-46. Nickie Carter and Abbegail Whildin traded baskets while Samantha Rinaldi tallied a layup for the Roadrunners 32-48. Carter would sink a three-pointer for MSU that started an 11-5 run that included three three-pointers as they led 59-37 with 4:50 left to play. Ramapo added ten points down the stretch as they went 4-4 from the field including 1-1 from behind the three-point line.  The Red Hawks tallied seven points the remainder of the game as they finished 3-3 from the floor including 1-1 from the three-point line.
 
Rinaldi led the Roadrunners with 11 points and three steals while Cahill recorded seven points of her own. Jenna Harsh, Potter, Whildin and Wickersheim all contributed with six points in the game. The team shot 34% (18-52) from the field, 18% (3-16) from beyond the three-point line and 80% (8-10) from the free throw line while the defense forced 20 MSU turnovers.
 
The Red Hawks were led by Carteer who tallied 20 points while Alex McKinnon collected 19 points. Taylor Brown and Cerys MacLelland led the team with ten rebounds each while Brown contributed with nine points, three blocks and two assists. MSU shot 42% (25-59) from the field, 35% (10-28) from the three-point line and 54% (6-11) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 1st when they travel to NJAC rival Rowan University for a game at 3pm.
