Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team played host to New Jersey City University today where the Roadrunners took the victory, 81-71 in a win against the Gothic Knights. Ramapo comes to an overall record of 8-7, 4-4 in the NJAC. NJCU falls to a 6-9 overall record, 3-5 in the conference.

Ramapo was first to put points on the board with a pair of free-throw shots from
Rob McWilliams. NJCU entered the game with a three-point goal along the baseline from Jaimik Moore. Ramapo quickly pulled ahead with a fiery 8-point run of buckets shot from the paint by
Jordan Zagadou,
Connor Romano and McWilliams. Ramapo's scoring streak was stopped when NJCU's Moore sank a three-point goal. The Roadrunners fought for another 8- point run, led by three-point shots from McWilliams and Romano, putting Ramapo up 28-17. NJCU chipped away at the gap with a three-point goal from Kyree Myers to tie the game up at 29-29. The teams traded baskets going into the locker room with Ramapo up by a slim margin, 38-36.Â

The Roadrunners enter the locker room being led by McWilliams, who netted 12 points, closely followed by Romano who tallied nine of his own. Ramapo led in rebounds with key contributions from Romano and
Matt Latka, both grabbing five of their own. Ramapo shot 45.5% (15-33) from the field, 37.5% (3-8) from the three-point line and 83.3% (5-6) from the free-throw line.Â

The Gothic Knight's offense was led by Moore, who put eight points up on the board. NJCU totaled 15 rebounds, with four from Michael Clement. The Gothic Knights shot 43.3% (13-30) from the field, 40% (8-20) from the three-point line and 100% (2-2) from the free-throw line.Â

Romano came out hot in the second half, finding the net on three 3-point shots from outside the arc in a 12-6 point run for the Roadrunners. After trading possessions, NJCU sank a jumper from the paint by Denzel Banks, to decrease the gap but were still trying to catch up, 47-54. Ramapo's
Jason Battle sinks a pair of free-throws to put the Roadrunners up by nine. The Gothic Knights fight back with a strong cut up the key by Moore, giving NJCU two points on the board. Back-to-back three-point goals fired from McWilliams and Romano widened the gap for the Roadrunners. Battle sealed the fate of the Roadrunners with a two-point goal from the top of the key, leaving Ramapo with the victory, 81-71.Â

The Roadrunners had four players score in the double digits, led by Romano with 24 points, McWilliams with 17, Latka with 11 and Battle with 10. Ramapo shot 51.8% (29-56) from the field, 58.8% (10-17) from the three-point line and 81.3% (13-16) from the free-throw line.

The Gothic Knights had three key scoring players, led by Moore with 20 points, Banks with 14 and Sam Toney with 11. NJCU shot 39.7% (23-58) from the field, 32.4% (11-34) from the three-point line and 93.3% (14-15) from the free-throw line. Â

th when they travel to William Paterson University for an NJAC conference game at 3pm.
