Farmingdale, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team earned two wins to open the 2019 season this afternoon. The Roadrunners won both matches 3-0 over Brooklyn College (25-13, 25-17, 25-15) and host Farmingdale State (25-15,25-18,25-18).
Morgan Ridgway led the way for Ramapo against Brooklyn with 14 kills while she added 11 digs.
Hannah Frascella collected 12 kills in the match with six digs and two assisted blocks along with one assist.
Karina Almeda posted a team high 23 digs while
Kate Shirkey tallied 13 of her own. Shirkey led the team with 20 assists and eight aces while
Sara Correa posted 13 assists of her own. The Roadrunners collected 40 kills in the match to Brooklyn's 14 as a team while Ramapo also posted 15 total aces.
For Brooklyn (2-3 overall), Madison Cronk led the team with five kills while Ezri Shor posted six assists. Yana Shaposhnikova led the way with 14 digs while Kate Meltsin posted ten of her own.
Against the Rams, Frascella led the way with 12 kills as she hit .478 in the match.
Stephanie Ross added ten kills and 13 digs while Ridgway added eight kills, one assist and six digs. Shirkey led the way with 16 assists while Correa posted 15 as well in the match. Almeda led the team with 18 digs. The team hit .233 in the match with 44 kills on 120 attempts while they collected 11 aces and four blocks.
Farmingdale State's Rachel McCartin and Kate Flamio each posted eight kills while Lexi Cavalieri led the team with 19 assists. McCartin also led the way with 12 digs while Kelsey Voiklis collected four total blocks including two solo. The team recorded 26 total kills as they hit .115 overall.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 14th when they host St. Joseph's College – LI at the Bradley Center at 11am.
