SIEGEL SCORES GAME-WINNER IN 2-1 WIN

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's soccer team came back to defeat King's College 2-1 today in non-conference action. The Roadrunners improve to 2-1 overall while the Monarchs even their record at 1-1 overall.

The Monarchs scored in the first eight minutes (7:13) of action when Bekah Araujo took a pass from Kristina Keithley and hit the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead.

Ramapo would tie the game when they were awarded a corner kick in the 29th minute of action. Gianna Enea took the corner kick and sent the ball into the box where Kaitlyn Kelly (28:06) was able to get her head on it and push it past the keeper to tie the game 1-1.

The Roadrunners scored the eventual game winning goal late in the second half (76:00) and the defense kept King's off the board in the final minutes to preserve the win. Paige Siegel netted the game-winner as she blasted the ball into the top part of the goal. Kaelyn Angelucci took the ball up the right side of the box and kicked into the goal area before Carla Goodwin slipped it to Siegel.

Elizabeth Harvell posted three saves for Ramapo, all in the second half while Tara Bender collected eight for King's. Ramapo held a slight advantage in shots in the game 13-9 while King's posted eight corner kicks to the Roadrunner's five.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, September 11th when they host the College of Staten Island at 3:30pm.
