Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team defeated the College of Staten Island this afternoon 5-2. The Roadrunners improve to 3-1 overall while the Dolphins, who are a NCAA Division II team, move to 1-1 overall.
The Roadrunners scored two late goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Lauren Vladyka scored her second goal of the season to put Ramapo on the board in the 30th minute (29:45) while
Sarah Tomasello made it 2-0 in the 44th minute (43:06) with a goal of her own.
Carla Goodwin took a pass from
Kayla Beal early in the second half (49:25) and scored her second goal of the season to put the Roadrunners up 3-0. Mirsade Pelinkovic got CSI on the board in the 51st minute (50:08) before Beal slipped a pass to
Cammi Plage just over ten minutes later (60:06) for a 4-1 lead. Samantha LaValle tallied her third goal of the season for CSI cutting the Ramapo lead in half with 60:17 on the clock 4-2. Plage would give Ramapo an insurance goal in the 76th minute (75:03), her second goal of the year.
The Roadrunners defense held the Dolphins from scoring the remainder of the game as they came away with the 5-2 victory. Ramapo outshot CSI 23-7 in the game including 17-5 in shots on goal.
For Ramapo,
Elizabeth Harvell collected two saves in the game in just over 68 minutes of action while
Alexandra Kerwin tallied one save in the final 21:05 minutes of the game. Samantha Beaudreault posted 12 saves in the net for CSI.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 14th when they host Cedar Crest College in a non-conference game at 1pm.
