Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team posted a 3-0 shut out win today to the United States Merchant Marine Academy behind two goals from
Bashkim Saiti. With the victory Head Coach
DJ Pinton earns his 150th career win at the College while Ramapo stands at 1-0-1 overall. USMMA falls to 1-1.
The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard first at 19:22 when Saiti snuck the ball in past the USMMA netminder off a corner from
Nick Petrozziello. The goal, in the 20th minute, put Ramapo up, 1-0. At 39:30,
Raul Macedo dished a ball to
Thiago Stallhbaum who slipped it past the goalie to take a 2-0 lead which held until the halftime buzzer.
The Roadrunners led in shots, 5-0 while earning four corners to their one.
Joshua Schaffer went untested while Chase Miller made one save in the half.
After stoppage for weather about six minutes into the second half, USMMA had an opportunity with a hard shot one on one but Schaffer came up strong and kept the Mariners off the board.
Saiti would score again off an assist from
Ariton Mimini to go ahead 3-0 with just under six minutes left in the game.
The buzzer would sound giving the Roadrunners their first win of the season as the shots were even in the second half at 7-7. Schaffer made five saves.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 7th when they host John Jay at 1pm at the turf.
