Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team and the College of New Jersey played to a 2-2 draw in double overtime today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 5-0-4 overall, 1-0-1 in the NJAC while the Lions move to 8-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.
Bashkim Saiti tallied his sixth goal of the season in the 19th minute (18:30) to put the Roadrunners on the board 1-0. Macedo slipped Saiti a pass 25-yards out before he ripped a shot into the back of the net for the early lead. The 1-0 score would hold the rest of the first half before TCNJ tied the game in the second half.
In the second half, Riley Furlong posted his second goal of the season (61:59) to tie the game 1-1. The goal was assisted by Sam Monaco. The Lions took a 2-1 lead when Luke Yates scored in the 73rd minute (72:42) of action.
Ariton Mimini scored the game-tying goal for the Roadrunners late in the second half (88:36) in front the net off a pass from
Joseph Fala. Neither team would score in the rest of regulation sending the game into overtime. Ramapo held a 4-1 advantage in shots in the first overtime period while TCNJ held a 5-2 advantage in shots in the second overtime period. For the game Ramapo posted 21 shots to TCNJ's 19 while the Roadrunners collected three corner kicks to the Lion's two.
Joshua Schaffer recorded ten saves in the net for the Roadrunners while Daniel Mecadon collected eight saves for TCNJ.
Rampao returns to action on Monday, September 30th when they host the City College of New York in a non-conference game at 4pm.
