Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team played their second five-set match in as many games tonight as they defeated Rutgers-Newark University 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 17-25, 15-8). The Roadrunners improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference while the Scarlet Raiders now stand at 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC.
Three Roadrunners tallied double digit kills tonight as
Morgan Ridgway led the team with 18 kills while she also collected 13 digs and one block.
Stephanie Ross posted 12 kills and a team high 28 digs while
Hannah Frascella collected 11 digs, three blocks and two digs.
Caleigh Golabek contributed with eight kills, two aces, two assisted blocks, one solo block and four digs.
Felicia Jimenez tallied seven kills, two blocks and two digs while
Kate Shirkey posted a team high 28 assists and tallied 16 digs.
Sara Correa led the team with five aces while she recorded 20 assists and 14 digs. On defense,
Karina Almeda collected 24 digs and
Kristina Semple posted 12 digs of her own. The Roadrunners tallied 60 kills as a team in the match on 215 attempts as they hit .167.
Comfort Akinbo posted a match-high 24 kills on 57 attempts as she hit .368 in. the match.
Alex Rivera tallied 15 kills, one assist, two aces and 12 digs while Sharon Starling contributed with eight kills of her own. Karly Gregoire dished out a team high 46 assists while she also posted 17 digs and two blocks. Brione Lockett posted a match-high 46 digs in the match while she also recorded two assists and two aces. The team collected 52 total kills on 196 attempts as they hit .148 in the match.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 28th when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College (NY) to take on Maritime College at 1pm and MSMC at 3pm.
