Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team opened up NJAC action today at home as they played to a 1-1 draw with New Jersey City University. With the tie the Lady Roadrunners stand at 4-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play. The Gothic Knights stand with six wins and two losses and now the one tie. They stand at 0-0-1 in the NJAC.
Ramapo scored first in the 19
th minute as
Carla Goodwin took a pass from Amanda Goulsbury to jump ahead 1-0. The goal was Goodwin's third of the season. The score would remain until 59:03 when NJCU's Mallensy Vargas scored her 16
th goal of the season, unassisted, to even the game at 1-1. The two teams played the remainder of regulation and two overtime periods scoreless to end knotted at one.
Ramapo out shot NJCU, 10-3 in the first half and 7-6 in the second. The Roadrunners also out shot NJCU in the second overtime, 5-0 ending the game on top, 23-11. The Roadrunners earned eight corners to NJCU's one and
Elizabeth Harvell made five saves in net for Ramapo. Cidney Lee-Sam played the full game for NJCU making nine saves.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 25
th when they host Western Connecticut at 4:30pm.
