Mahwah, NJ: The Bryn Mawr College field hockey team defeated Ramapo College 3-1 today at the Athletic Center in non-conference action. The Owls remain undefeated at 5-0 overall while the Roadrunners even their record to 3-3 on the year.
The Owls scored one goal in each of the first three periods and held off a tough Ramapo offensive attack throughout the game. Kelly Bergman put Bryn Mawr on the board in the 7th minute of action (6:21) for a quick 1-0 lead before Samantha Shaw scored in the second period (23:45), her fifth of the season. With the score 2-0 heading into the third period, Shaw once again hit the back of the net (36:45) with an assist from Olivia Supron to push the score to 3-0.
Ramapo tacked on their goal in the third period when
Angela Oskierko knocked in her second goal of the season off a high pass over the defense from
Sam Della Rovere, 1-3.
The Owls did not let the Roadrunner offense to find the net in the final period as they came away with the 3-1 road win. Anna Hartzell collected seven saves in the game including a penalty stroke save in the second period.
Samantha Stolker tallied five saves for Ramapo. Ramapo posted 13 shots to the Owls 12 while Bryn Mawr held an 8-7 advantage in corners in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 18th when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for a non-conference game at 4pm.
