Mahwah, NJ: The FDU-Florham field hockey team defeated Ramapo College today in non-conference action 2-1. The Devils improve to 4-1 overall while the Roadrunners move to 3-2 on the year.
The Devils scored early in the first quarter (8:41) when Haleigh Flukey tallied her seventh goal of the year off a pass from Riley Mullan. Jessica Pietracatella scored the eventual game-winning goal, 2-0, in the second half (20:00) while Sydney Moskal assisted.
Ramapo got on the board in the third period when
Mariah Tovar scored her team leading fourth goal of the season. The goal came in the 40th minute (39:06) to cut the Devil lead in half while
Maggie Farrell assisted on the play.
The Roadrunners out shot FDU in the final period 8-1 while they held an 8-2 advantage in corners in the quarter. Ramapo could not find the back of the net to tie the game as Devil goalie made six saves in the fourth quarter. Megan March posted 14 saves for FDU in the game while
Samantha Stolker tallied five for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 14th when they host Bryn Mawr College in a non-conference game at 4pm.
