Mahwah, NJ: The FDU-Florham women's soccer team came back to defeat Ramapo College 2-1 today in non-conference action. The Devils now stand at 2-0 overall while the Roadrunners even their overall record at 1-1.
FDU-Florham looked as if they would score first in the game when a header from Tatiana Nieto got past Ramapo goalie
Elizabeth Harvell. Harvell was able to run down the ball, grab it and stop just before the goal line to earn the save. The Roadrunners got on the board just seven minutes later.
Kaelyn Angelucci scored in the 23rd minute of action, her second of the season. She collected a throw-in from
Lauren Vladyka turned and laced a shot over the keeper's head for the early lead.
Madeline Finnegan posted her second goal of the year early in the second half (53rd minute) to tie the game 1-1. Nieto recorded the assist off the corner kick. Erika Pita put the Devils in the lead 2-1 in the 84th minute as Nieto slipped her a pass inside the 18-yard box, her third goal of the season.
The Roadrunners could not find the back of the net in the final minutes of the game to force overtime as the Devils came away with a hard-fought win. Ashley Paulino earned the win in the net for FDU-Florham as she collected four saves while Harvell tallied nine for Ramapo.
Each team collected five corner kicks in the game while the Devils outshot Ramapo 19-6 including 11-5 on goal.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, September 4th when they host King's College in a non-conference game at 4:30pm.
