#4 RAMAPO FALLS IN NJAC TOURNAMENT TO #1 TCNJ

Ewing, NJ: The #1 College of New Jersey softball team advanced in the 2019 NJAC Tournament with a 4-0 win over #4 Ramapo College. The Lions improve to 32-6 overall while the Roadrunners wrap up the year at 22-14 overall.
 
The College of New Jersey took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Katie Winchock led off with a single down the left field line before Lauren Conroy drew a walk. Each moved up on a double steal before Gaby Bennett recorded an RBI groundout to second base which allowed Winchock to score, 1-0.
 
Ramapo put the game-tying run on base in the fourth and fifth inning with less than two outs before TCNJ was able to get out of both jams to preserve the lead. The Lions added two runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead, 3-0. Following a Ramapo error to lead off the inning, Bennett drove home Winchock with an infield ground out before Annalise Suitovsky punched a single through the right side of the infield with two outs allowing pinch runner Fransesca Pu to cross home plate, 3-0.
 
TCNJ added one run in the top of the seventh when Lauren Conroy knocked home Whicock with a double in the left-center field gap with two outs, 4-0.
 
Erin Fitzsimmons (13-10) took the loss for the Roadrunners on the mound. She struck out four, walked one and scattered seven hits in the complete game. Kristen Ruggiero, Carli Egan and Olivia Wang each collected a hit for Ramapo.
 
Eliza Sweet (15-3) earned the win on the mound for TCNJ, she worked the first 4.1 innings with five strikeouts, one walk while she scattered three hits. Alana Namit earned the save, her second of the year. She struck out four, walked one and did not surrender a hit in the final 2.2 innings for the Lions.
