Pomona, NJ: The Stockton University women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College today 14-13 in the first NJAC game of the season. The Ospreys improve to 8-2 overall, 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners (6-3 overall, 0-1 NJAC) see their three-game win streak snapped.
 
The Ospreys scored the first five goals of the game and held an 11-8 lead at halftime, a lead they would not give up. Stockton held off Ramapo in the second half as the Roadrunners outscored them five goals to three.
 
Ramapo opened the second half with an unassisted goal from 
Nicole Jaskot before Stockton tallied back-to-back goals for a 13-9 lead. 
Ava Rinaldi took a pass from 
Beth McGraw and hit the back of the net to come within three, 10-13 before Casey Shultz scored the eventual game-winning goal to extend the lead 14-10. Ramapo made a push to tie the game in the final minutes of the game with three straight goals. Rinaldi scored on a free position shot before 
Gabi Davidson and Jaskot scored the final two goals of the game to come within one 13-14.
 
The Ospreys held Ramapo in the final minute to hold onto the one goal lead 14-13. Gaby Ojeda led Stockton with four goals while Shults, Nicole Jandras and Abbey Yannacone each collected three in the game. Brooke Hallett recorded eight saves in the game, four in each half to earn the win in the cage.
 
Davidson, 
Shannon Eagan, Jaskot and Rinaldi each tallied three goals in the game to lead Ramapo. 
Alexandra Kerwin recorded 11 saves in the cage for the Roadrunners including seven in the first half.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 9th when they host Saint Thomas Aquinas College at the Athletic Center at 4pm.
