MEN'S VOLLEYBALL EARNS #6 SEED IN UPCOMING CVC TOURNAMENT

Roadrunners fall to Juniata & UC Santa Cruz in regular season finale

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of tough matches tonight at the Bradley Center. The Eagles of Juniata College defeated Ramapo in the first match of the night, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) while the Roadrunners pushed UC Santa Cruz to four sets before falling to the Banana Slugs, 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18).
 
Ramapo (15-14 overall) earned the #6 seed in the upcoming Continental Volleyball Tournament. The Roadrunners will face #3 Juniata on Thursday, April 11th at #1 Southern Virginia University at 8pm. A full bracket can be found here. Ticket prices per day are: $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students/children while college students with a CVC member school ID card and children under 5 will be let in free.
 
Joe Fick led the Eagles over Ramapo with 20 kills as he hit .516 in the match. Sean Cavanagh recorded eight kills and a team high 12 digs along with three total blocks while Michael Young posted 38 assists in the match. Daniel Voronov collected ten digs on defense while the team hit .352 in the match. Juniata recorded 43 kills on 88 attempts and just 12 errors.
 
Jason Van Der Wilt led the Roadrunners in the match with 12 kills as he hit .400. Eric Van Thuyne tallied ten kills of his own while Stephen Codispodo contributed with nine kills. Brenden Russell recorded two kills and two solo blocks while Josh Titus dished out a team high 35 assists. On defense Tyler Plitt recorded 12 digs while he added four assists. The team hit. 240 in the match with 39 kills on 96 attempts and 16 errors.
 
Ramapo won the fist set in a four-set battle against UC Santa Cruz. Raymond Cascio led Santa Cruz with 19 kills while Aaron Fox posted seven of his own. Justin Fortner posted a team high four solo blocks and added one assisted while he contributed with five kills. Sam Wittert recorded a team high nine digs and 33 assists. The team posted 43 kills in the match on 94 attempts and 16 errors to hit .287.
 
The Roadrunners had three players collected double-digit kills against the Banana Slugs. Van Thuyne led the way with 13 kills while Codispodo recorded 12 and Conor Charlow added 11. Charlow led the team with four assisted blocks and one solo on the night while Titus dished out a team high 40 assists. Van Thyune recorded nine digs to lead the team while he added three assisted blocks. The team hit .181 in the match with 47 kills on 116 attempts and 26 errors.
 
In the middle match of the evening, UC Santa Cruz defeated Juniata, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-18).  Cascio led Santa Cruz with 18 kills while Kyle Donohoe and Fortner each tallied seven in the match. Wittert collected a team high 39 assists while Jonathan Santos led the team on defense with 11 digs. Donohoe also posted a perfect passing percentage on 26 attempts while he added ten digs and two aces. The Banana Slugs hit .276 in the match with 44 kills on 105 attempts and 15 errors.
 
David Hibner led the Eagles in the match with seven kills while he hit .429. Voronov and Cavanagh each recorded nine digs while Kevin Duffy and Hibner each tallied three total blocks. Austin Goodsel dished out a team high 17 digs while he added two blocks. The team recorded 20 total kills in the match as they moved to 19-6 overall.
