BUSER SPOILS SHUTOUT WITH SOLO HOME RUN, RAMAPO FALLS AT #4 ROWAN

Buser belts team leading third home run of the season in the 9th inning

Glassboro, NJ:  The #4/4 ranked Rowan University baseball team defeated Ramapo College today 8-1 in NJAC action. The Profs move to 26-7 overall and 11-3 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 20-11 overall and 10-4 in the NJAC.
 
The Profs, who snapped Ramapo's seven-game win streak, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Woods doubled to right field to lead off the inning before moving to third on a wild pitch. Mitch Walker singled to put runners on the corners before Woods and Walker each scored on a Roadrunner error for a 2-0 lead. Alex Kokos later scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the inning, 3-0.  Rowan added two runs in the third inning when Anthony Harrold connected on an inside the park home run which also plated Dillon Mendel for a 5-0 lead.
 
With two outs in the fourth, the Profs extended the lead with two runs when Harrold and Kokos each earned a bases loaded walk, 7-0. Walker drove home Woods with an RBI single in the eighth before Ramapo put their run up on the board in the bottom of the ninth.
 
With one out in the top of the ninth, Kyle Buser connected on his team leading third home run of the season, to put the Roadrunners on the board.
 
Rowan's Andrew DiPiazza held Ramapo to just five hits earning the complete game win. He struck out 13, walked three and surrendered just one run as he moved to 5-0 overall.
 
Nick Recarte (1-2) started on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out five, walked four and surrendered 11 hits in 3.2 innings of work. CJ Growney worked 1.1 innings of relief with one strikeout. Matt Stewart worked the sixth and seventh with one strike out while Dan Russo pitched the eighth inning. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one run. Each reliever gave up just one hit in the game.
 
Philip Mahlik and Buser each recorded two hits in the game for Ramapo while Nick Camilleri posted one hit.
 
The Roadrunners, who are ranked #7 in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region, return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Rutgers-Newark University for a NJAC conference game at 3:30pm.
