Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough match-up today at home to the Profs of Rowan University, 6-21. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs improve to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Rowan would jump out to a quick 3-0 start with goals from Jess Havers, Maddie Bray and Taylor Gretz before Ramapo's Molly Warner got the Roadrunners on the board off an assist from Beth McGraw at the 7:34 minute mark.The Profs would again connect three goals to take a 6-1 lead before McGraw dished a ball to Gabi Davidson to come within four, 2-6. Ramapo snuck another goal in at 19:19 from Shannon Eagan but it would be the Profs who rounded out the half with six straight goals to take a 13-3 lead at the buzzer.
Rowan led in shots 24-8 in the first half and Alexandra Kerwin made five saves for Ramapo.
The Profs opened the scoring in the second half with a goal from Mikala Gillespie and Davidson grabbed one for Ramapo at 3:05 into the half. Rowan would lead 14-4. The remainder of the half went much of the same as the first as the Profs finished on top, 21-6 in the NJAC match-up in Mahwah.
Kerwin made eight more saves in the second half as the Profs out shot Ramapo once again, 23-5.
Rowan finished the day with 17 ground balls and Ramapo collected 12. Reilly Shaup made three saves in the net for Rowan.
Bray led the Profs with five goals and Havers collected four. Ramapo was led with two goals each from Davidson and Eagan.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 16th when they host Kean University at 4pm.
