Patchogue, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated St. Joseph's College Long Island today on the road, 6-1. The Roadrunners, who have won seven of their last eight games, improve to 13-9 overall while the Golden Eagles even their record at 13-13 overall.
The Golden Eagles scored an early run in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 1-0 lead while the Roadrunners scored all six of their runs in the top of the seventh inning.
With the bases loaded and one out in the sixth,
Kyle Lisa was hit by a pitch to force home
Kellen Hardy from third base who was also hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. On a full count,
Nick Cuba was hit by a pitch which allowed
Bryan Franko to score for the 2-1 lead. Following a pitching change,
Anthony Kuzmenko took the first pitch he saw and laced it into right-center field for a two RBI single.
Philip Mahlik and Lisa each scored, Mahlik worked a walk earlier in the inning.
Kyle Buser then lifted a sac fly to center field which allowed Cuba to cross home plate and Hardy drove home Kuzmenko with an RBI single of his own for the 6-1 lead.
Ramapo starting pitcher
Tyler Lombardo (3-0) worked through the eighth inning with four strikeouts and two walks to earn the win. Lombardo scattered six hits and surrendered just one run (unearned).
Thomas Feehan worked the ninth inning to close out the game for Ramapo facing four batters, walking just one.
Kuzmenko and
Vincent Timpanelli each collected two hits in the game while Kuzmenko recorded a team high two RBI. Hardy finished 1-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon at Jeff Maund Field when they host NJAC rival Kean University at 3:30pm.
