Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team won a thrilling five-set match over CVC/NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University tonight at the Bradley Center 3-2 (19-25, 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, 15-13). The Roadrunners even their overall record at 9-9 while they move to 4-3 in the CVC and 2-1 in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raiders now stand at 10-4 overall, 6-2 in the CVC and 0-1 in the NJAC.
Ramapo saw themselves down two sets heading into the third before they came back to snap the Scarlet Raiders' six-match win streak. Ramapo was led by
Eric Van Thuyne who tallied 19 kills, four aces and nine digs while
Conor Charlow collected a team high five blocks including two solo blocks. Charlow also added 13 kills on 21 attempts with no errors to hit .619 in the match.
Stephen Codispodo collected ten kills, two digs and four assisted blocks in the match while
Jason Van Der Wilt posted six kills, seven digs and two blocks, including one solo block.
Tyler Plitt led the team on defense with 11 digs while
Josh Titus dished out a team high 46 assists while adding seven digs of his own.
Sean Burke came up big late in the match with two kills while he added three huge blocks, including one solo. Ramapo collected 50 kills in the match as they hit .191 overall with 131 attempts and 25 errors.
Three players recorded double-digit kills tonight for the Scarlet Raiders as Arvind Kumar led the way with 14 kills, two aces and 12 digs. Elan Dorkhman posted 12 kills, two aces, five digs and two blocks while Kyle Loesner posted ten kills, two digs and one block. Brendon Frank led the team with five total blocks, including one solo while he added six kills. David Mrowko posted four assisted blocks in the match while he contributed with five kills. Arnan Romua and Travis Emenaker split the setting duties with 26 and 25 assists respectively. Emenaker also led the team on defense with 13 digs while Jake Connors tallied 11 of his own in the match. The team hit .174 in the match with 54 kills on 132 attempts and 31 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, March 7th when they travel to St. Joseph's College – Long Island for a non-conference match at 7:30pm.
