Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team faced off with the Chargers of Lancaster Bible today as the posted a 21-4 victory in the non-conference contest. With the win the Roadrunners open the season at 5-2 overall for one of their best starts in program history.
The Roadrunners quickly got on the board early in the game as
Danielle Dellapi,
Shannon Eagan, and
Molly Warner put the Roadrunners on top, 3-0 in just the first six minutes of play. Raegan Horst would score for Lancaster to close the gap, 1-5 at the 12:24 minute mark, but
Gabi Davidson, off an assist from Dellapi put Ramapo on top, 6-1. The remainder of the half went much of the same as the buzzer sounded with Ramapo ahead, 15-2.
The Roadrunners would out shoot the Chargers, 19-8 while they led in ground balls, 10-6. Ramapo held a slight lead in draw controls with nine as the Chargers collected eight. Ramapo's
Alexandra Kerwin made four saves in net.
Eagan would collect a goal to start the second half and Horst followed with a goal for Lancaster, but it wasn't enough as the Roadrunners scattered five additional goals over the next 20 minutes to take the game, 21-4 in Mahwah.
The two teams went equal in shots for the second half with eight each and Kerwin made six saves. The Roadrunners picked up four draw controls and seven ground balls in the remainder of the game.
Eagan finished the day with seven goals for Ramapo while Warner added four and Davidson,
Ava Rinaldi and Dellapi each added two. Davidson collected a team leading seven assists in the win. Kerwin gets the win in 60 minutes of play with ten total saves.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, March 30
th when they travel to King's College (PA) for a 1pm start.
