STRONG FIRST HALF PROPELS RAMAPO OVER OLD WESTBURY 17-3

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated SUNY College at Old Westbury today 17-3 at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 4-2 overall while the Panthers, who played a man down the entire game, fall to 1-7 on the year.
 
Ramapo opened up a 9-0 lead in the first half before Old Westbury got on the board in the final five minutes of the half. Ava Rinaldi led the Roadrunners with three goals in the half while she also earned one assist. Shannon Eagan scored two goals, including the goal to put Ramapo on the board to open the game, while she assisted on the final two goals of the half. Two Roadrunners earned their first goal of the season as Danielle Dellapi and Liana Chirichiello each scored. Gabi Davidson scored back-to back goals to make it 7-0 in the 16th minute while she also assisted on two goals.
 
Natasha Treuman scored her 21st goal of the season for the Panthers in the 26th minute, before Beth McGraw, Eagan, Rinaldi and Molly Warner each hit the back of the net for a 13-1 lead. Warner's goal came off a pass from Eagan in the final minute of the half.
 
In the second half, Ramapo recorded four straight goals before Old Westbury scored the final two goals of the game. McGraw scored her 13th goal of the year before Warner added her 11th off a pass from Kate Klingler to take a 15-1 lead. Rinaldi and Nicole Jaskot scored back-to-back goals with assists from Davidson and Eagan respectively to extend the lead 17-1.
 
Treuman and Hope Matthews posted one goal each for the Panthers, each unassisted in the final three minutes of action as Ramapo won the non-conference game 17-3. Old Westbury goalie recorded 11 saves in the game, including eight in the first half.
 
For Ramapo, Alexandra Kerwin posted six saves in the net while offensively, Rinaldi and Eagan each led the team with six points in the game. Rinaldi posted a team high four goals while she added two assists. Eagan added two goals and a team high four assists.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, March 27th when they host Lancaster Bible College in a non-conference game at 3:30pm.
