STEWART STRIKES OUT TEN IN GAME ONE WIN, RAMAPO FALLS IN GAME TWO

Auburndale, FL:  The Ramapo College baseball team split in a double header against the Green Knights of St. Norbert College.  The Roadrunners took game one 11-1 while the Green Knights won game two 3-7.  Both teams now stand at 5-5 overall. 
 
Game one: 
Vincent Timpanelli led the Roadrunners hitting 2-5 with two RBI and scoring one run.  Vincenzo Sita went 1-3 and plated one run while Nick Camilleri went 1-4 with two RBI and one run scored. 
 
The Roadrunners took an early 1-0 lead when Timpanelli sent the ball into right field allowing Phil Mahlik to score. Ramapo added five runs in the top of the fifth inning. Mahlik reached on an error to lead off the inning before he moved third on Kyle Lisa's single down the left field line. Lisa advanced to second on the relay throw back into the infield before Nick Camilleri drove them both home with a double to center field, 3-0. Camilleri moved to third on an infield ground out before he came home on Vincent Tampanelli's RBI single to center field, 4-0. Derek Romberg drove home two RBI with the bases loaded pushing the score, 6-0.  
 
Ramapo would tack on one more run in the top of the sixth inning before St. Norbert would score their only run of the game.  Lucas Reynolds led off the bottom half of the inning with a single followed by Jack Maastricht with a hard-hit double to right center allowing Reynolds to score, 7-1.  The final runs of the game were scored in the seventh inning when Ramapo added four more, 11-1. The inning was highlighted by Kyle Buser's bases clearing triple as he drove home three RBI.
 
Kevin Stewart started on the mound for the Roadrunners and earned the win (1-0) pitching six innings, striking out 10 batters, scattering four hits, and giving up one run. 
 
Game two:
Liam Duffy led the Roadrunners hitting 2-3, walking once, and scoring two runs.  Jake Gursaly went 2-3 and Buser was 2-4 with one RBI and a run scored. 
 
Ramapo jumped on the board in the first inning when Buser sent the ball up the middle and Duffy, who walked earlier in the inning, crossed home plate.  St. Norbert would tie the game in the third inning on an unearned run. The Green Knights would tack on four more runs in the fourth inning for a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Buser laced a double into the left-center field gap before Sita knocked him in with an RBI single, 2-5. The Roadrunners would close the gap to two in the fifth inning when they plated another run. Duffy singled to lead off the inning and later scored when Camilleri knocked him home, 3-5.  The Green Knights would extend their lead to four in the sixth inning when they added two more runs, which would be the final runs of the game, 7-3. 
 
Nick Recarte started on the mound for the Roadrunners allowing one run, striking out two batters, and walking seven.  Riley Weis (1-1) would pitch three innings scattering three hits, striking out two, walking one, and giving up six unearned runs. 
 
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow in the final game of the Russ Matt Tournament at 10:30am when they face Benedictine University.
