RAMAPO FALLS TO WESTMINSTER IN EXTRA INNINGS 6-5

Auburndale, FL:  The Blue Jays of Westminster College (MO) defeated the Ramapo College baseball team in 11 innings, 6-5.  The Roadrunners now stand at 2-3 overall while the Blue Jays improve to 2-4. 
 
Philip Mahlik led the Roadrunners in the loss hitting 4-6 with three RBI.  Kellen Hardy went 2-4 with a run scored and one RBI while Kyle Buser scored two runs.    
 
Westminster took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Bran Beeler sent the ball over the fence for a two-run home run, bringing home Zach Stiles who led the inning off with a single.  The Roadrunners answered back scoring one run in the second inning when Mahlik singled to right field allowing Hardy, who reached earlier on a hard-hit double to right center, to cross home plate.  In the third inning, Buser reached on an error with two outs before he later scored on an RBI single from Nick Camilleri. Westminster would tack on another run in the sixth inning to take the lead, 3-2.
 
Ramapo would take the lead back in the seventh inning, when Hardy stepped up to the plate with two outs and two runners on.  Hardy laced a single through the left side of the infield, allowing Buser to cross home plate.  Mahlik then drove home Romberg with a double into center field allowing Derek Romberg to score, 4-3.  Westminster took the lead back in the seventh tacking on two runs off two hits, 5-4.
 
With two outs in the ninth inning Ramapo would tie the game 5-5. Romberg was hit by a pitch before being lifted for pinch runner Kyle Lisa, Hardy walked and was lifted for pinch runner Mikal Trice. Mahlik then laced a single into left field allowing Lisa to score for the game-tying run. Westminster would take the victory in the 11th inning when Hayden Hirschvogel plated the game-winning run with a single to center field, allowing Stiles to score, 6-5. 
 
Jon Brignoni started for the Roadrunners and pitched 6.1 innings striking out three, giving up five runs, and scattering nine hits.  Greg Westhelle (0-1) pitched 3.1 innings striking out six, scattering four hits, and giving up one run.
 
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow morning against Springfield College, first pitch is 10:30am.
