RAMAPO RECORDS TOUGH LOSS TO #7 CONCORDIA

Kissimmee, FL:  The Concordia University Chicago baseball team, ranked #7 in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25 poll, defeated Ramapo College today 8-4.  The Cougars improve to 6-2 overall while the Roadrunners now stand 1-1.

Nick Cuba led the Roadrunners in the loss hitting 2-4 with two runs scored.  Anthony Kuzmenko went 1-4 with a run scored and Vincent Timpanelli added the final run for the Roadrunners.  Kyle Buser drove in two runs hitting 2-4 and Nick Camilleri went 2-4 with one RBI.
 
The Cougars plated three runs on three hits in the first inning, tacked on two more runs on two hits in the second inning, and added another run in the third inning, giving them the 6-0 advantage to start the game.  The Roadrunners put one run on the board in the fourth inning when Cuba walked to lead off the inning and advanced to third when Kuzmenko singled to left field.  Buser drove home Cuba with an RBI single to left field.  In the fifth inning Concordia tacked on an additional run to jump ahead 7-1.
 
Timpanelli led off the seventh inning with a hard-hit triple to center field before Justin Grippo earned an RBI with a sacrifice fly to right field.  Cuba would then hit a single to center before Kuzmenko would walk.  Buser then got up to bat to drive in Cuba with a single up the middle.  Camilleri would step up to the plate, with two outs on the board, and send the ball to left center sending Buser across home plate to come within three, 4-7.  The Cougars would add on the final run of the game in the eighth inning which stood until the final out, 8-4.
 
CJ Growney started on the mound for the Roadrunners and took the loss.  He struck out six, walked one, scattered twelve hits, and surrendered seven runs.  Jeff Millet pitched two innings, struck out two, gave up one hit, and surrendered on run.
 
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow morning at Osceola Heritage Park when they take on McDaniel College in a double header that starts at 11:00am.
