STRONG SECOND HALF PROPELS RAMAPO OVER SUNY MARITIME 12-9

Bronx, NY:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team scored seven goals in the second half on their way to a 12-9 victory over SUNY Martitime College. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 3-0 overall while the Privateers even their record at 2-2 overall.
 
The game was tied four times in the first half, the final time 4-4 when Ciara Murphy started a string of four straight unanswered goals for Maritime as they took a 7-4 lead. Catherine Pfundstein collected the sixth and seventh goal of the half for the Privateers while she also notched the third, recording a hat trick in the first 25 minutes of action. Ramapo added their fifth goal of the game late in the first half with 1:28 left on the clock as Nicole Jaskot scored an unassisted goal. Maritime took a 7-5 lead into halftime. Ramapo recorded 15 shots in the first half to Maritime's ten while the Privateers' goalie collected five saves in the first half. Ramapo goalie Alexandria Kerwin posted two saves in the first half.
 
Beth McGraw and Jaskot, who was assisted by Kate Klingler, scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at seven with less than 18 minutes to play in the game 7-7. Pfundstein took a pass from Deleva once again for her fourth goal to take an 8-7 lead before Ramapo's McGraw tied the game up once again at eight all with 16:05 on the clock. Ava Rinaldi, Shannon Eagan and Caitlin Ernest all collected goals for the Roadrunners as they took an 11-8 lead with just over seven minutes to play. McGraw scored her fourth goal of the game to give Ramapo a 12-8 lead with 2:26 on the clock, with an assist from Klingler. With 17 seconds left in the game Maritime got a goal from Sara Write 9-12 and the Roadrunners did not let the Privateers score in the final seconds for the 12-9 road victory.
 
Ramapo dominated the second half with a 17-8 advantage in shots. Roadrunner goalie Alexandra Kerwin posted six saves in the game including four in the second half. McGraw led the way with four goals in the game while Rinaldi, Jaskot and Ernest each collected two each. This is the first time in program history the team has opened the season with a 3-0 overall record.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, March 20th when they travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a non-conference game at 7:30pm.
