Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team hosted Mt. St. Vincent in their home opener today as they defeated the Dolphins, 17-5 behind five goals from Molly Warner. Ramapo improves to 2-0 on the year. With the loss the Dolphins open the 2019 season at 0-1.
Beth McGraw got the Roadrunners on the board first in the game as she ripped a shot past the Dolphin goalkeeper scoring a free position goal just 43 seconds into the match. Caitlin Ernest put the Roadrunners ahead 2-0 before Paulina Mandujano got MSV on the board at the 2:58 minute mark. Nicole Jaskot, Shannon Eagan and Ava Rinaldi scored back-to-back-to-back goals for Ramapo to take a 5-1 lead. With 19:21 left to go, Morgan Pavlik scored one of her own to close the gap 2-5. Warner scored her fourth of the season to put Ramapo up, 6-2 and Warner dished a ball to Eagan at 20:10 to jump ahead 7-2. With under six to go in the half, Warner struck again on a free position shot for an 8-2 advantage. The half would end with Ramapo leading 9-3 as Warner and Caitlin Elia each scored one of their own in the final minutes.
Ramapo led in shots, 22-8 with 14 on goal while Alexandra Kerwin made three saves in net for Ramapo. Allyson Weakliem made five saves for the Dolphins.The Roadrunners picked up 18 ground balls in the half to MSV's eight.
To start the second half, Eagan, McGraw, and Ernest each collected a goal to put Ramapo ahead 12-3 and in the remainder of the half, the Roadrunners would collect five additional goals to take the non-conference game, 17-5. The Roadrunners again led in shots with 13 and in ground balls with five. Kerwin made five saves in the final half of play.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, March 13th when they travel to Maritime College at 4pm.
