MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS 83-63 WIN OVER WESLEY

Dover, DE:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team opened the 2019-2020 season with an 83-63 win over host Wesley College today in non-conference action.
 
Three Roadrunners scored in double figures as Rob McWilliams led the team with 26 points. He finished 7-12 from the floor, 5-6 from the three-point line and he was perfect from the free throw line 7-7. McWilliams also dished out a team high six assists. Matt Latka finished 8-11 from the floor while he scored 22 total points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds. Connor Romano posted ten points and seven rebounds while Jordan Zagadou and Travis Bennett tallied nine and eight points respectively in the game. The Roadrunners shot 56% from the floor, 56% from the three-point line and 75% from the free throw line. They also out rebounded the Wolves 28-19 in the game. Ramapo recorded 13 points off of Wesley turnovers.
 
Brian Cameron led Wesley with 27 points as he finished 8-17 from the floor including 4-9 from the three-point line and 7-9 from the free throw line. He also led the team with six rebounds and two assists. Mychal Stefanides posted nine points and four rebounds while Terrence Braxton added eight points and three rebounds. The team shot 39% from the field, 33% from the three-point line and 73% from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners opened the game on a 10-0 run when McWilliams started the scoring. Run with a three-pointer followed by a Zagadou jumper. Jason Battle hit a three-pointer of his own to extend the score 8-0 before Zagadou put in a jumper for the 10-0 lead with 16:44 left in the first half. Braxton got Wesley on the board with a layup before Latka put one in for Ramapo followed by a free throw for the 11-point lead 13-2. Three straight three-pointers from Brian Cameron cut the Ramapo lead to four 11-15 with under 13 minutes left to play in the half before the Roadrunners stretched the lead back to eight on a three-pointer from McWilliams with less than ten minutes on the clock. Back-to-back baskets from Wesley, a three-pointer from Josh Hall and jumper from Cameron, shrunk the lead to three 17-20 before they would cut the lead to two 23-25 with a three-pointer from Greg Bloodswoth with just 3:40 left in the half. McWilliams sank a three-pointer while Romano hit a pair of free throws to go up five 30-25. In the last two minutes of the half the lead would change two times before Ramapo ended the half on a 12-0 run to go into the locker room up nine 42-33.
 
Ramapo controlled the second half as they pushed their lead to 60-43 in the first ten minutes of action. McWilliams gave the Roadrunners their biggest lead of the game 79-55 with under three minutes left in the game. Latka made the final basket, a layup with under a minute to play while Brandin Obidike sank a pair of free throws for Wesley as the Roadrunners came away with the. 83-63 win.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, November 16th when they travel to Connecticut College for a non-conference game against Colby College at 6pm.
