Montclair, NJ: The #4 Montclair State University women's volleyball team advanced in the NJAC Tournament tonight with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16) win over visiting #5 Ramapo College. The Red Hawks improve to 21-9 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 13-7 on the year.
The Red Hawks will travel to #1 Stockton University on Thursday in one of two NJAC Semifinal matches. Ramapo will wait to see if they earn a bid to the ECAC Tournament which will be announced in the afternoon on Monday, November 11th.
The Roadrunners were led by
Hannah Frascella who recorded 15 kills and hit .564 in the match.
Morgan Ridgway collected ten kills and ten digs while
Kate Shirkey tallied a team high 17 assists while also posting eight digs.
Juliana Paslawsky dished out 11 assists and
Karina Almeda posted nine digs on defense. The team collected 37 kills in the match as they hit .200 overall with 115 attempts and 14 errors.
The Red Hawks hit .371 in the match with 53 kills on 116 attempts and just ten errors as Leah Higgins and Carly Waterman collected 14 and 13 kills respectively. Higgins also recorded three blocks and two digs while Waterman posted 12 digs of her own. Jillian Wilson hit .500 for the team with eight kills on 16 attempts and no errors while also adding two blocks. Megan O'Rourke dished out a match high 48 assists while Siyara Herbert posted 16 kills on defense to lead MSU.
This was the sixth time the two programs met in the NJAC Tournament while the Red Hawks edge the Roadrunners with a 4-2 record during that span.
