ROADRUNNERS TAKE TOURNAMENT TITLE

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team hosted the final rounds of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament today where they defeated the Rams of Farmingdale State, 71-46 to earn the tournament title and the non-conference win.  In the first game of the day, the consolation match-up, Johnson & Wales defeated Bryn Athyn, 72-55.
 
Championship Game:  The Roadrunners dominated Farmingdale State and earned the 71-46 win to improve to 4-0 overall on the year behind 13 points each from Stacey Porzl, Jessica Repasy and Alie Wickersheim.  The Rams fall to .500 at 2-2.   The Roadrunners shot 27-63 (43%) in the win as Bridget Cahill and Porzl each dished out four assists.  Repasy led in rebounds with 12 to complete the double-double and Cahill grabbed two steals.
 
The Rams got on the scoreboard first in the game with a three from Jami Cardenas before they worked to a five-point advantage midway through the first.  Ramapo closed out the quarter with a 6-0 run to take a 16-14 lead at the buzzer with baskets from Wickersheim (1), Caleigh Mcanuff (2), Samantha Rinaldi (2), and Porzl (1).  The Roadrunners came out on fire to start the second as they collected a 10-0 run to take a 26-14 lead, before a three from Cahill, with 5:35 to go, put the Roadrunners on top, 29-16.  Ramapo would close out the remainder of the quarter on a 9-0 run to head into the locker room leading, 38-18.  Wickersheim led with nine points and Porzl added eight as the team went 14-31.  Alexis Hunter led the Rams with eight points.  Farmingdale shot 5-31 in the half.  At the start of the third, Rinaldi sparked a 10-0 run which put the Roadrunners up, 48-21, before working to a 54-30 lead at the buzzer.  The fourth quarter went much of the same as Ramapo continued to spread the gap to earn the 25-point non-conference win and the tournament title.  Porzl added five more points and Wickersheim four as the team hit 13-32 in the final two quarters.  Hunter led the Rams with six points.  The Rams collected ten baskets on 37 attempts.  
 
Consolation Game: In the consolation match-up, Johnson & Wales defeated Bryn Athyn, 72-55 to improve to 2-1 on the year.  Bryn Athyn falls to 0-2.  Johnson & Wales was led by Maddy Moro who collected 22 points in the win.  She added 21 rebounds for the double-double.  Tera-nay Lee netted 12 points as she collected 5-10 from the field and Tiondra Hands and Britney Gallagher each contributed 11 points to the game.  The team hit a combined 32-75 (43%) on the day.  Gallagher dished out a team high eight assists and Cheyenne Lee grabbed six steals.  For Bryn Athyn, Jayda Campbell and Maylissa Clarke each sank 16 points as they combined hitting 12-31 from the field.  Allie Warren netted six points as the team hit a collective 19-65 (29%) in the loss. Campbell grabbed five steals and Kaylia Duncan dished out two assists while Nicole Lincifort and Clayshonia Cogmon each pulled down nine rebounds.  Both teams were equal with 19 turnovers.
