Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University women's volleyball team defeated Ramapo College 3-0 (25-15,25-20,25-16) tonight in NJAC conference action. The Red Hawks snap Ramapo's five-match win streak as MSU improves to 14-4 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The Red Hawks were led by Leah Higgings who hit .462 in the match while she tallied 14 kills while Carly Waterman posted 11 kills, six digs and four aces. Megan O'Rourke collected a team high 34 assists while Maddie Valko posted a team high 22 digs on defense. Victoria Tennon posted four kills, six digs and a team high two assisted blocks while Caitlin Lange tallied seven kills and also hit .462 in the match. MSU recorded 40 total kills as a team while they hit .216 overall in the match.
Stephanie Ross,
Morgan Ridgway and
Hannah Frascella each collected seven kills in the match for Ramapo. Frascella tallied two blocks, while Ridgway posted once ace and nine digs. Ross collected eight digs and one ace of her own.
Sara Correa and
Kate Shirkey split the setting duties as Correa posted 13 assists and Shirkey tallied 12. Correa also collected 11 digs while
Samantha Main led the team with four total blocks including two solo blocks. On defense,
Karina Almeda tallied a team high 21 digs. The team collected 27 total kills in the match.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 15th when they host Kean University in a NJAC conference match at 7pm.
