Ewing, NJ: The College of New Jersey field hockey team defeated Ramapo 5-0 today in NJAC action. The Lions, who are ranked #2 in the latest NFHCA Top 25, remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
The Roadrunners held the Lions scoreless through the first quarter before Camryn Ley scored off a pass from Jess Hatch. The Lion's first goal of the game came off a penalty corner in the 21st minute of action in the second quarter. Ley and Hatch teamed up again in the third quarter to put TCNJ up 2-0 before Cayla Andrews posted her 17th and 18th goals of the year for TCNJ for a 4-0 lead. Andrews tallied goals in the third quarter (45th) and fourth quarter (50th) before Tori Hannah added the final goal for the Lions in the 58th minute of action off a pass from Kayla Peterson for the 5-0 score.
Samantha Stolker tallied ten saves in goal for Ramapo while Maddie Beaumont posted four saves for TCNJ. The Lions held a 28-6 advantage in shots and a 19-4 advantage in penalty corners in the game.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, October 9th when they host Drew University at 4:30pm in a non-conference game.
