WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL EARNS NJAC TOURNAMENT BID

Roadrunners fall to WPU 3-0 in final NJAC match of the season

Wayne, NJ:  The Ramapo College volleyball team clinched the #5 seed in the upcoming NJAC Women's Volleyball Tournament despite falling to host William Paterson University tonight on the road, 3-0 (25-14, 27-25, 25-19). The Roadrunners now stand at 12-5 overall and finish 3-5 in the conference while the Pioneers move to 11-11 overall and 2-6 in the NJAC.
 
The Roadrunners who clinch a NJAC Tournament bid for the 14th time under head coach Robert Pichardo, will travel to #4 Montclair State University on Tuesday, November 5th at 7pm for a first-round match.
 
Morgan Ridgway led Ramapo against WPU tonight with eight kills while she also collected six kills and one block. Hannah Frascella added seven kills and two blocks while Felicia Jimenez collected six kills and three blocks. Karina Almeda recorded a career high 43 digs in the match to lead the team on defense. Samantha Main tallied four blocks in the match to lead the team while Kate Shirkey dished out a team high 15 assists and 13 digs. The team collected 29 total kills in the match along with six aces.
 
For the Pioneers, Alyson Toman posted a match-high 12 kills while Leila Ksiyer collected nine of her own. Barbara Colizza led WPU with 25 digs on defense while Gabriella Pimentel posted 17 in the match. Kristin Volavka dished out a team high 34 assists while also collecting 16 digs on defense. The Pioneers posted 38 total kills in the match.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, November 2nd when they host the final tri-match of the season. The Roadrunners will take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 11am and Lehman College at 3pm.
