Joseph Fala was big today as he led the Ramapo College men's soccer team to a key, 2-1 victory over the Profs of Rowan University. With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 10-1-5 overall and 5-1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. They earned three additional points to remain in first place in the conference standings. Rowan falls to 8-4-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.
Fala would score both goals for the Roadrunners as his first came in the 75
th minute off a long ball from defender
Mark Buckel. Fala slipped the ball past the diving James Weinberg to take the 1-0 lead. The goal was his 12
th of the season. The Profs evened the score just over four minutes later when Nick Schlageter hit a quick heal pass backwards to Jay Vandermark who ripped a shot into the back of the net.
With just over three minutes to go in the game,
Nick Petrozziello was fouled inside the box and Fala stepped to the line and capitalized to take the 2-1 advantage.
Joshua Schaffer shut down the offense in the final minutes making four saves on the day to earn the 2-1 conference win at home.
Ramapo outshot the Profs by a slim 11-10 and Rowan earned three corners to Ramapo's two. Weinberg made three saves in goal for the Profs.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 30
th when they host the Pioneers of William Paterson at 3pm.
