Mahwah, NJ: The Stockton University field hockey team won a key NJAC game today 2-1 over Ramapo College in overtime. The Ospreys improve to 14-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 6-11 overall, 1-4 in the NJAC.
Both teams would get on the board in the fourth quarter. The Roadrunners scored first with a goal in the 57th minute (56:33) when
Victoria Docherty tallied her 6th goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later the Ospreys would tie the game 1-1 with a goal from Casey Cordonna while Gianna Morganti earned the assist. Neither team scored in the final minutes of regulation as the game would go into overtime.
Issy Gilhooley put in the game-winner, her third goal of the season, as she chipped the ball high into the back of the net during a penalty corner (62:52) for the 2-1 victory. Both teams tallied 13 shots during the game and both teams recorded eight penalty corners. Emily Gilligan recorded nine saves for the Ospreys while
Samantha Stolker tallied two saves for the Roadrunners.
Erin Callery and
Clare Nugent each posted defensive saves in the game for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners will return to action in their final NJAC game of the season on the road at Montclair State University on Friday, November 1st at 7pm.
