Elizabeth Harvell became the Ramapo College Women's Soccer All-Time Saves leader today during a 1-1 draw in double OT against Rutgers-Newark University. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-8-2 overall, 0-5-2 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders move to 9-6-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the conference.
Harvell broke the record with her 10th save of the game coming in the 107th minute of action and now has 348 career saves. Harvell collected 11 saves in the game.
Freshman
Jessica Guccione tallied her first collegiate goal of her career to put the Roadrunners on the board in the 22nd minute of the game.
Lauren Vladyka slipped Guccione the ball inside the 18-yard box before putting it into the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead. Ramapo would hold the Scarlet Raiders in the first half before they would tie the game in the second half.
In the 69th minute, Bailey Kellenberger collected a loose ball in front of the net and slipped it past Harvell to tie the game 1-1. Each team had chances to score in the final 20 minutes of regulation but both goalies made great saves to keep the score at 1-1. The Scarlet Raiders tallied three shots each both overtime periods but Harvell would make two saves in the first overtime and three saves in the second overtime to keep the score knotted at 1-1.
Rutgers-Newark held a slight advantage in shots in the game 19-15 while they posted 11 corner kicks to Ramapo's three. Heidi Paulson did her part to keep the score tied throughout the game as she collected ten saves of her own for the Scarlet Raiders.
