Mahwah, NJ: The Manhattanville College field hockey team came from behind to defeat Ramapo College 2-1 today in non-conference action. The Valiants improve to 7-3 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-7 on the year.
Mariah Tovar tallied her team leading fifth goal of the season to put the Roadrunners on the board in just the second minute of action (1:52). Tovar took a pass in front of the cage from
Maggie Farrell for the quick 1-0 lead. Manhattanville would tie the game in the 12th minute (11:59) when Lexi Crites scored her seventh goal of the year off a pass from Robin Boot for the 1-1 score.
The score remained tied until the fourth quarter when Ava Panzer scored the eventual game-winning goal to take a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute (56:25) as Arnise King collected the assist. The Roadrunners did not go down without a fight earning a penalty corner in the final minutes of the game.
Angela Oskierko ripped a shot which was saved by Valiant goalie Zoe Fillebrown to keep the Roadrunners from tying the game as Manhattanville came away with the 2-1 road victory.
Both teams tallied 14 shots each in the game while the Valiants recorded 13 on goal to Ramapo's nine. Manhattanville recorded 16 penalty corners in the game and Ramapo tallied ten. Both Fillebrown and Roadrunner goalie
Samantha Stolker each tallied eight saves while Oskierko posted two defensive saves and
Erin Callery recorded one of her own.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to #2 the College of New Jersey for a NJAC conference game at 1pm.
